I have a dozen locations using open-mesh AP's managed with CloudTrax very simple to setup and manage, I definitely recommend you to look at this solution.

Using CloudTrax to help manage the open-mesh AP's is very simple and pretty idiot proof. The ability to see and manage all the AP's, even those in remote locations is great.

We are using Open-Mesh APs which are cloud managed by Cloudtrax. Inexpensive APs, no annual subscriptions, and cloud management. Trialed Meraki, but while the config and monitoring capabilities were excellent, the price point and annual subscriptions caused a bit of heartburn.

You cannot beat the price to be able to put out and inexpensive wireless network weather your a school, apartment complex or a business that would like to make a guest network available to your customers.

Excellent tool for managing Open-Mesh nodes. There are no fees associated with using the cloudtrax system. Just register your node on the site via mac address and configure your wireless setting and your on your way.

Love Open-Mesh and Cloudtrax platform. Cost disruptive, quality coverage, good for both coverage based networks and density based networks. They have products for both 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Would love to see a lower cost dual radio solution come out for larger network deployments, as we cover mostly condos and hotels.

Seamless roaming on enterprise AP without controller
I am in a debate on Access Points. We have standalone cisco ap's that we want to use the same ssid without a controller. My simple set up would be setting up the ap's identical but using different channels AP1 would sit on channel 1 3 5 7 & 9 while AP2 would sit on 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10.

Have you looked at Open-Mesh? They offer some great products for mesh networking at very competitive prices. I have set up two locations now with them and can't say enough good things. Dead simple to configure, reliable, and web managed.

The products are good quality, their prices are more than competitive, and the CloudTrax management makes it easy to to work from anywhere.

Wireless Controller that allows users to pay for internet access
I'm looking to implement a guest wireless that will allow me to redirect guests to a landing page to be able to purchase internet access either by paypal, amazon or CC. Similar to what some Hotel's do. I know of some Hotels that use Ruckus equipment, but i'm not sure what models, or if there are any...

This stuff is really good for the price I like the fact that it's all modular so you can match it as you need, cloudtrax is a great way to keep tabs on the network when your away from the building.

We've been using OM for several months at our group homes for both our staff and clients and have found them reliable and easily managed, not to mention incredibly affordable.

We’ve worked with Cisco and Meraki, but we’ve also deployed several Open Mesh WLAN’s and they all work beautifully. From large residential homes to commercial warehouses, outdoor antiques markets and medical practices, this elegant but powerful solution works really well for small business budgets.

Open Mesh breaks the 2/3 rule of "Good, Quick, and Cheap" by delivering all three.  Keep in mind, it's GOOD not spectacular, and in most environments (meaning, you are delivering wifi to guests for free and/or to devices in your business for basic internet connectivity) this is enough.  If you need lots of VLAN tagging and other more advanced network shaping, this may not be the best fit.  And, yes, as others have pointed out, their included documentation (as well as what is readily available online) is a bit on the thin side.  The upshot is Open Mesh's support forums are usually pretty quick with responses and recommendations.

I actually have these deployed in a couple of places... one a motel, the other a two-floor, 8,000 sq ft office.  The WAPs definitely get a work-out in the former as nobody bangs away at bandwidth like a hospitality guest does.  You do have to pay attention to the user densities on these devices as my experience has been they start to get weighed down with more than 10 connected devices.  While you can always add more to distribute the load, for that reason and the ones mentioned above, they lose a star.  Plus, make sure you deploy them behind a decent router.  We went with a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter, and the network itself is rock solid.

The free cloud management (especially the new version CloudTrax 4) is so simple to use and quick to implement.  Again, it's less a scalpel than a really sharp machete in terms of precision networking, and for most of us that is going to be fine.

Lastly, they're cheap, enough so I am actually going to put a couple of their WAPs in my house.  The consumer grade wireless repeaters are all terrible, but these actually work for about the same price.

Glad to read that everyone is as convinced as I am!
This triggered me actually to become self employed. Today I have my online shop at http://www.openmesh-be.com/shop.
As other reviewers have written I could satisfy a huge number of friends and customers that were searching for quite some time for a stabile and a cheap solution!
Good job Open-Mesh! Keep up the nice work!

Love this kit, I have networks that are miles apart and I can monitor them from wherever I am.  email notifications if a node goes down and the software can show you any bandwidth hogs.
adding new devices was so simple its done before you realise you've done it.
